How a Restaurant Group in Parksville Qualicum Beach Stopped Competing Against Itself
Learn how a four-restaurant group used A/B testing and targeted placement to set its brands apart and drive above-benchmark engagement across the Parksville Qualicum Beach website.
Moments Hospitality is a Parksville Qualicum Beach restaurant group representing four distinct brands: Qualicum Beach Cafe, Deez Bar & Grill, Nanoose Bay Cafe, and Greenview Taphouse. Each restaurant has its own personality and audience, and all four are strong candidates for the dining-related pages travelers turn to when planning where to eat.
Challenge
That overlap created a challenge. With four restaurants all worth promoting on the same high-value dining pages, Moments Hospitality risked competing against itself, with its own brands splitting clicks and bidding for attention from the same audience. The group needed a way to give every restaurant meaningful visibility without one cannibalizing the next.
Solution
Destination Signals™ recommended A/B testing across the four restaurants so they would not go head to head for the same clicks. Rather than running identical messaging, each restaurant showcased a different mix of offerings, giving travelers a clear reason to choose one brand over another based on what they were in the mood for.
The team built a targeted placement strategy to keep each restaurant on the pages most relevant to it, delivering a high-intent audience instead of broad, untargeted reach. Destination Signals™ also helped select imagery that highlighted the variety across the group and recommended headlines that drew clear lines between the brands.

Across 10 placements, the strategy delivered measurable engagement and clear differentiation between the four brands.
The placement strategy showed up in the page-level numbers. The niche pages outperformed the broader ones: Food & Drink and Restaurants placements landed in the 3.44% to 3.86% CTR range, well ahead of the Homepage, Events, and Things to Do pages, a direct result of the targeted approach. The A/B pairs in the highest-traffic placements performed closely but distinctly, with Events One at 1.93% against Events Two at 1.46%, and Things to Do One at 1.23% against Two at 1.12%. Both ads in each pair pulled their weight without cannibalizing each other.
